Beginner Screen Printing Workshop: Print Your Own Gear with Shayla Johnson
Saturday August 13th from 11am-2pm
Entry Level—No experience needed, but must be 14 or older.
This class will guide students through creating their own motifs and screen printing any items that they bring. Think t-shirts, bags or other natural fabric!
Shayla will guide students through the use of water based inks that are heat set and colorfast. Items MUST be at least 75% plant fiber such as cotton, linen or hemp.
Students will learn fun inking techniques using multiple colors. No experience required.
COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
About the instructor:
Shayla Johnson is founder and designer of Scarlet Crane Creations which is a dedicated micro-batch textile printing house that specializes hand-printed fabrics used to create home decor products and lifestyle accessories. Unique surface patterns range from free flowing florals to abstract textures in order to produce stylish and sophisticated collections. The Scarlet Crane Creations is housed right here at POST so you’ll have the opportunity to see Shayla’s work space, printing table, and work in process.
