Fresh Leaf Indigo Workshop

Hosted by POST + Color Wheel Collective

 Sunday September 15th, 2019 from 10am to 1pm

This workshop is a special feature during TEXTILE TAKEOVER, our annual indoor/outdoor weekend long event! The weekend will be full of demonstrations, hands-on workshops, and craft activities to compliment an outdoor art/craft fair. We will be harvesting plants from the dye garden and hosting an array of fashion and fibers-focused classes in the studios.

Ready to take indigo dyeing to the next level?

In this three hour class we'll explore a fun and easy dyeing technique that utilizes live Japanese indigo plants growing in our on-site Dye Garden. You'll get up close and personal with these plants while hand harvesting and processing their leaves. Each participant will receive a 100% silk scarf to dip into their dye solution as well as formal instruction on how to create surface design patterns using traditional shibori techniques. The resulting dye color is a breathtaking "mermaid" shade of turquoise and completely unique to this processing method. Don't miss out; because of the seasonal availability of our Japanese indigo plants, this workshop will not be offered again until next year!

Everyone will take home a gorgeous silk scarf of their own creation! Please note, this class can get messy so bring clothes you don't mind getting dye on. Aprons will also be made available.
