Hosted by POST + Melissa Dettloff, of Hooray Forever
Sunday, February 16th from 12pm to 5pm
Your pet deserves 15 minutes of fame! And a custom-made portrait!
Learn the basics of screen printing and create a special portrait of your favorite furry friend. During this 5 hour make & take workshop, Melissa will teach you how to create a set of multi-layered screen prints, similar in style and technique to the portraits made by Andy Warhol. These custom 8x10 prints will be created using your own photo. After you register, we’ll email you with instructions. You’ll be asked via email to submit your photo at least one week before the workshop. Nothing fancy needed - cell phone photos will work fine!
This workshop is great for any skill level. Beginners will learn screen printing basics while those with more experience can deepen their skills as we cover techniques such as: making images for screens without a darkroom using the stencil method, printing split fountains/rainbow rolls, printing halftone images, and registering multiple colors. Come in feeling loose and easy - we’ll be making decisions on the fly, layer by layer, and making it up as we go!
Everyone will take home twelve 8x10 prints!
8 x 10 inch Mutual Adoration frames will be available in the shop at a 20% discount for workshop attendees!
Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Screen printing ink will stain your clothing.
