Hosted by POST + Nicolette Ashley, of Earth In Creations
Sunday, March 1st from 1pm to 5pm
Learn about the functions of lathes, types of turning and what tools are necessary to this multifunctional craft.
This 4 hour hands-on workshop will cover all the basics, including the operation of lathes, proper techniques and safety. Participants will have the opportunity to observe and assist fellow students in addition to creating their own handcrafted wooden bowl. Each bowl will be made from domestic hardwoods and then shaped, hollowed, sanded and finished on the lathe.
Go home with a newfound knowledge of turning and wood lathe basics along with a small wood turned bowl (approx. 4” in diameter and 2” in depth).
Please note: All participants will need to wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing any clothing with fringe, hood strings, baggy long sleeves, or anything that hangs or dangles that could get caught in the lathe (including jewelry).
