Hosted by POST + Wayne Maki, of Mutual Adoration
Sunday, May 24th from 10am to 2pm
This design is a classic beginners woodworking project, with an ingenious folding mechanism that lets the table fold flat, with a built-in handle to carry.
During this 4 hour make & take workshop, we'll be learning the fundamentals of woodworking including shop safety, choosing materials, considerations when working with reclaimed wood, and safe operation of tools. Planned with the total beginner in mind, this project will take you through the basic and safe operation of a planer, miter saw, table saw, drill press, router table, and sanders. We'll also discuss reading woodworking plans, measuring, marking, and wood finishing techniques.
Each student will leave with a sturdy reclaimed wood folding table, printed plans and the confident know-how to make another table on your own.
Please note: All participants will need to wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing any clothing with fringe, hood strings, baggy long sleeves, or anything that hangs or dangles that could get caught (including jewelry).
