Hosted by POST + Megan Williams, of Adventure Textiles
Saturday, May 30th from 10am to 1pm
Join Megan Williams, the maker behind Adventure Textiles, for a fun and educational morning of dyeing with natural indigo.
During this hands-on make + take workshop, we’ll be exploring the beautiful blues that can be achieved with natural indigo. We'll be using two types of fermentation vats while we learn the process of building darker shades of color. A few shibori methods will also be discussed and experimented with before deciding on a final design for a lovely spring table runner. This workshop will cover everything a natural dyer needs to know - including material and supply sourcing, preparation of materials, as well as safety and clean up procedures.
Everyone will take home dye recipes, shibori instructions, several samples, along with a freshly-dyed table runner.
About the Instructor:
Megan Williams is a maker. She prefers maker because it encompasses all the things she is sewer, dyer, weaver, spinner, felter, crocheter, leather worker, builder, grower, teacher, and student. She is focused on making both beautiful objects and wonderful communities.
Megan has been teaching natural dye workshops all around Michigan for over 5 years and is excited to bring her knowledge of natural dyes to POST. She structures her workshops as an in depth study into the process and science behind dyeing with natural materials. She hopes every student will learn a lot and be confident in being able to replicate the results at home.
