Super Fungi Embroidery Workshop

Hosted by POST + Dayna Walton, of Solstice Handmade

Friday, June 12th from 6 to 9pm

All skill levels are invited to learn about fungi while using 4 essential embroidery stitches to complete a sampler of native Michigan mushrooms!

After we've gotten familiar with our stitch techniques, we'll tune into the documentary "Super Fungi". This film is full of gorgeous shots of colorful fungi, time lapses of their growth, and interviews with Paul Stamets. We'll learn about how mushrooms fit within our ecosystem, and how they may be able to solve problems like pollution. You'll leave with a finished embroidered wall hanging and a new awareness for the fungi hiding in plain sight all around you.

About the Instructor:

Dayna, the artist behind Solstice Handmade, currently lives in Grand Rapids, MI. She works out of Dinderbeck Studio where her practice is built on a love for exploring the natural world and a need to share stories and skills with others. Utilizing traditional printmaking techniques such as screen printing, block printing, etching, and lithography, Dayna creates printed artwork, textiles, and other goods with illustrations and patterns based on the natural world. Dayna travels Michigan and throughout the region to teach workshops that combine science and creativity,  bringing together people with a common love. When she's not in the studio, you can find her painting murals, working artist markets, and working elsewhere through residencies.
