Wood Turning: Bowls on the Lathe

Hosted by POST + Nicolette Ashley, of Mutual Adoration

Sunday June 28th from 1pm to 5pm

Create your own unique wooden bowl while you learn about wood turning, lathes, tools, techniques, and all of the project possibilities of this multifunctional woodcraft.

During this 4 hour hands-on workshop, Nicolette will cover all the basics, including the operation of lathes, proper turning techniques, and wood shop safety. You will have the opportunity to observe and assist fellow students while learning a variety of turning techniques as you craft your bowl. Each bowl will be shaped, hollowed, sanded and finished on the lathe.

Everyone will leave with a newfound knowledge of turning and wood lathe basics, along with a small wood turned bowl (approx. 4” in diameter and 2” in depth) from domestic hardwoods.

Please note: All participants must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing any clothing with fringe, hood strings, baggy long sleeves, or anything that hangs or dangles that could get caught in the lathe. Be mindful to tie up long hair and tuck away your jewelry. Aprons and face shields will be provided.
