Two-Day Fundamentals of Woodworking Workshop: Sliding Lid Boxes with Wayne Maki & Alexis Rosa CalderoWednesday September 14th 6pm-8pm
Beginner Level Class - Must be 14 (with supervision) or older.
Using reclaimed wood, students will make + take a handsome sliding lid box, with mitered corners and walnut splines that are both functional and decorative. Each student will be able to choose the size of their box.
During this 2 part, 4 hour workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of woodworking including shop safety, proper material selection, and safe operation of tools. Wayne and Alexis will cover special considerations when working with reclaimed wood.
This project is designed for beginners. You'll learn the basic and safe operation of a table saw, miter saw, dado blades, gluing and clamping techniques, sanding and staining.
All students must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing loose clothing or anything that dangles. Tie up long hair and tuck away your jewelry and headscarves.
Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Stain, paint, and finishing oils will stain your clothing!
COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
