Fundamentals of Woodworking Workshop: Folding Table with Wayne Maki & Alexis Rosa Caldero
Sunday September 25 10am-2pm
Beginner Level Class - Must be 14 (with supervision) or older.
During this 4 hour make & take workshop, we'll be learning the fundamentals of woodworking including shop safety, choosing materials, considerations when working with reclaimed wood, and safe operation of tools. Planned with the total beginner in mind, this project will take you through the basic and safe operation of a planer, miter saw, table saw, drill press, router table, and sanders. We'll also discuss reading woodworking plans, measuring, marking, and wood finishing techniques.
The design is a classic beginners woodworking project, with an ingenious folding mechanism that lets the table fold flat, with a built-in handle to carry.
Each student will leave with a sturdy reclaimed wood folding table, printed plans and the confident know-how to make another table on your own.
Please note: All students must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing loose clothing or anything that dangles. Tie up long hair and tuck away your jewelry and headscarves.
COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
