Two-Day Fundamentals of Woodworking Workshop: Folding Lounge Chair with Wayne Maki & Alexis Rosa Caldero
Wednesday September 28th, 5pm-8pm
Wednesday October 5th, 5pm-7pm
Beginner Level Class - Must be 14 (with supervision) or older.
The design is a classic beginners woodworking project with an ingenious folding mechanism. Each student will leave with a lightweight, reclaimed wood folding chair, printed plans, and the skills to make another chair on your own.
During this 2 part, 5 hour workshop, students will learn the fundamentals of woodworking including shop safety, proper material selection, and safe operation of tools. Wayne and Alexis will cover special considerations when working with reclaimed wood.
Planned with the total beginner in mind, this project will take you through the basic and safe operation of a table saw, power feeder, miter saw, and drill press. You’ll also learn techniques for sanding, painting, and finishing!
All students must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing loose clothing or anything that dangles. Tie up long hair and tuck away your jewelry and headscarves.
Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Stain, paint, and finishing oils will stain your clothing!
COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
