Embroidery Workshop: Extinct Embroidery - Golden Toad with Dayna Walton of Solstice Handmade

Saturday October 9th
from 10am to 12:30pm

Entry Level Class
No experience necessary, however you must be 12 or older

Join Solstice Handmade for a morning of stitching and socializing! This class is great for stitchers of any skill level - we will cover all the basics for beginners, and will demonstrate 4 different embroidery stitches. All supplies will be provided, including a printed design of a Golden Toad to stitch. In between demonstrations, we will discuss the story of how this critter went extinct, deepening our understanding of how the world is quickly changing around us.

Everyone will leave with a partially finished frog embroidery + the skills, instruction sheet, and embroidery floss to finish at home

COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
Please click here for more details on our Workshop Policy page.

About the Instructor:

Dayna, the artist behind Solstice Handmade, currently lives in Grand Rapids, MI. She works out of Dinderbeck Studio where her practice is built on a love for exploring the natural world and a need to share stories and skills with others. Utilizing traditional printmaking techniques such as screen printing, block printing, etching, and lithography, Dayna creates printed artwork, textiles, and other goods with illustrations and patterns based on the natural world. Dayna travels Michigan and throughout the region to teach workshops that combine science and creativity,  bringing together people with a common love. When she's not in the studio, you can find her painting murals, working artist markets, and working elsewhere through residencies.
