Sewing Workshop: Make a Reusable Lunch Bag with Detroit Apron Co

Saturday October 1st, 2-4pm

Entry Level Class - Must be 14 or older.

Create a fun, carry-all that makes for a perfect reusable lunch bag while you explore the basics of machine sewing with Donna Killeen!

In this 2 hour, hands-on workshop, students will get comfortable using a sewing machine to make a fully lined and reversible bento bag in cotton and linen, plus a matching cloth napkin where we'll practice our technique.

Bento refers to a single serve take out  meal or home packed meal in Japan.  While there are many different forms of bentos, this bag is a simple reversible bag that can be used in versatile ways.  Use it as a lunch bag, organize items in your suitcase or backpack, serve bread or fruit at the table.  They make a great reusable gift bag!  Maybe add homemade cookies and attach a gift card for the holidays?

Beginner sewing skills will include sewing straight and curved seams, use of gussets to shape the bag and top stitching to finish.  No prior sewing experience necessary, we’ll have fun learning it all.

COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
