Get into the fall season spirit just in time for Halloween!
In this two part workshop, you'll learn how to coil-build a pumpkin out of clay, add attachments and texture, and cut out a jack o' lantern face just like you would carve a real pumpkin.
Your instructor, Mitch, will guide you through the building process during the first workshop session and then through the glazing process during your second session. The pumpkins will be fired and glazed in the kiln to ensure that you have a spooky pal to display for years to come. No experience is necessary and all tools and materials are provided.
Please note, your pumpkins will be ready to pick up a few days after the second session, when the kiln firing is complete. You can pick up during our regular shop hours anytime after October 23rd.
About the Instructor:
Mitch Segall is a native Michigander, a proud MSU alum, and the founder of Central Ceramics Co. He has been working with clay for nearly 20 years and teaching for over 10 years. Mitch has apprenticed in a number of pottery studios and is the manager of Pewabic Pottery’s gallery shop. He loves exploring shape, texture, and color, and stretching those elements within the limitations of clay. Mitch’s current body of work reflects the aesthetics and inspirations discovered during his time living in Central America.
