Fundamentals of Woodworking Workshop: Hanging Wall Art with Wayne Maki & Alexis Rosa Caldero
Saturday October 29th, 10am-12pm
Beginner Level Class - Must be 14 (with supervision) or older.
Join us for a fun afternoon of creating art pieces using reclaimed wood. Get a peek at our wood shop, learn how to use different saws, and experience the behind-the-scenes world of working with locally sourced reclaimed wood while building your own design.
During this make + take workshop, you’ll learn the basic and safe operation of power saws and hand tools to create custom shapes. With access to a rainbow of colorful milk paint and waterproof seals, you’ll also learn techniques for sanding, painting, and finishing!
This project is perfect for experimentation or you may design a piece to fit your color scheme at home. We’ll be hands-on all afternoon - cutting, painting, staining, cutting, nailing, and assembling. No woodworking experience is needed!
Each student will create their own unique piece with custom shapes and colors. Mutual Adoration will provide all materials needed, and hanging hardware for each finished piece.
Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Stain, paint, and finishing oils will stain your clothing!
All students must wear closed toe shoes for this workshop. Refrain from wearing loose clothing or anything that dangles. Tie up long hair and tuck away your jewelry and headscarves.
COVID-19 POLICY - We are asking all workshop participants to be fully vaccinated or provide a negative test result from within three days prior to the class and to accept all requests of both POST and the instructor concerning mask wearing.
