A POST Still Life Series: Charcoal Drawing with Clare Fox
Thursday December 14th from 6 to 8pm
Entry Level Class - No experience necessary however minors must have a guardian present.
Clare is teaching an 11 session series of Reductive Charcoal Drawing happening on Thursday evenings starting 10/12 through 12/28. Come to one or come to all!
Join Clare in the studio for Reductive Charcoal Drawing. We will explore using erasers and charcoal, in all its moody forms. This particular style of charcoal drawing is prized for its ability to produce an interplay between light and shadow, known as chiaroscuro. Though a bit messy, getting our hands dirty with charcoal dust is a very satisfying way to learn, play, and experiment!
A variety of charcoal pencils, erasers, papers, and supplies will be provided. If you have your own favorite sketchbook or tools, please feel free to bring them.
For as long as people have been creating visual artwork, there has been a desire to record ordinary, everyday objects. These works evoke a mood and remind us of life’s hidden beauty. As viewers, the chosen still life objects offer some insight into the lives of others.
We believe that EVERYONE can draw. Yes, even you. By drawing together, we not only learn new skills and improve our techniques, we build community through shared experience. Lose yourself in the process. Get into a flow state by focusing on a collection of POST's ordinary objects. This class is designed to be a fun, experiential, and experimental workshop for all skill levels rather than an academic dive into “learning to draw". Come join the fun!
