Pop-Can Pen for Writing, Drawing and Calligraphy

Hosted by POST + Patrick Barber (of Blackletter Heart)

Wednesday, August 21st from 6pm to 8pm

In this 2 hour hands-on workshop, craft your own Pop-Can Pen using readily available materials, then get to know its fun and unpredictable ways!

The folded pen is a simple art tool that pares down the mechanics of pen and ink to its rawest, most essential form. Each folded pen is different, and the large, flexible nibs offer a variety of line qualities and are the perfect pairing for a spectrum of mediums from water to ink to paint. Patrick will provide tips for writing with your very own folded pop-can pen along with some sample alphabets. You don’t need to be interested in calligraphy to enjoy this workshop—it’s about making and enjoying your own unique mark-making tool.

Everyone will take home their own folded pen, and a set of instructions and templates so that you can make many more pop-can pens at home.

Aprons + gloves will also be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. Ink will stain your clothing!
