Hosted by POST + Kate Litchford
Friday, November 15th from 6pm to 9pm
Learn to turn a string of beads into a unique, bespoke piece of jewelry.
In this 3 hour hands-on workshop, you will learn how to use pre-threaded silk cord, including finding the correct size; how to attach your findings securely; and tying the knots securely using the appropriate tools. Hand-knotting is a technique most common for pearls and gemstones and is extremely useful in preventing the loss of precious beads. If the necklace should break, all but one bead will stay put! Most importantly, this jewelry drapes in its own way and looks lovely on.
All attendees will leave feeling comfortable with knotting in between each bead on a strand of silk cord and, of course, attaching the appropriate findings. If you don't complete your piece in class, don’t worry! You'll have all the materials and tools required to finish at home.
About the instructor:
Kate has been making jewelry by hand for a LONG time and she loves sharing her work. As a child she discovered that what she wanted was and is never sold in stores. She has been hands-on with beads, stringing, and knotting ever since. Kate is self-taught and loves learning and teaching techniques, ideas, and designs.
