Linocut Workshop: Introduction to Printmaking on Paper

Hosted by POST + Dana Falconberry (of Falconberry Prints)

Saturday, December 21st from 2pm to 5pm

This 3-hour hands-on workshop is the perfect introduction to relief printmaking!

Dana will demonstrate and discuss the linocut printmaking process from beginning to end, including specific tools, materials and techniques required to start making your own unique prints. Each participant will not only have the chance to practice carving linoleum blocks but will also get to experiment with various hands-on printing methods. Use pre-made templates or bring in drawings/designs of your own. These techniques can be used to customize wrapping paper, cards, tags, prints, and more!

Each attendee will leave with an enthusiastic grasp of inking basics, printing techniques and a one-of-a-kind print!

Aprons will be provided, but please wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a little bit dirty. The ink can stain your clothing.

About the instructor:

Dana Falconberry is an artist and musician living in Texas and Michigan. After touring, recording, and leading a band for over a decade, she now finds herself focused on visual art. She is currently a stitcher/designer at Fort Lonesome, a custom chainstitch embroidery company based in Austin, and makes linoleum block prints under the name Falconberry Prints. After learning to carve and print linoleum blocks from a friend in order to make her own album covers, she fell in love with the art form.
