Hosted by POST + Elizabeth Royal (Mend Detroit)
Wednesday November 14th from 5:30 to 8:30pm
Gather up all of your favorite frayed, ripped, worn, and snagged denim jackets, jeans, and chambray shirts. You know those pieces that you've been meaning to mend? Now is your chance!
During this group workshop, you will learn visible mending and Sashiko/Boro techniques on denim and best practices for patching and repairing. A variety of denim, linen, and vintage fabrics will be provided for patching and stabilizing your pieces.
Elizabeth will guide the group through various tools, materials, and solutions. She will offer help specific to the type of mend required. Everyone will try various stitches and learn how to choose techniques that will make a strong, long-lasting repair.
About the instructor:
Elizabeth Royal is a maker, mender, and photographer. She lives in a 1920's fixer upper in Detroit with her two dogs, two cats, and husband. During the day she's an instructional designer but after work you can find her tackling projects in her studio - photography, Kintsugi, and visible mending.
