Handcrafted in Southfield, Michigan

Ernest Fackler is a woodcut printmaker and visual arts educator from Southfield, Michigan. He specializes in multi-colored reduction woodcut editions. He is a life-long Michigander and has a BFA and Teaching Certification from Wayne State University.

Artist Statement: My work is concerned with our natural world; dreamed, idyllic, simplistic, plastic, and decorative in its dynamism. Read as a short story told in a voice of spatial experiments, motif, and natural forms. The Woodcut's tactile nature and history, mythology, the human figure, and the nature of Michigan inform and inspire my printwork. Each print, an organic and geometric exploration of space and the ways our world can live on a flat paper.
