Every artist has tools of their trade— knitters have needles and yarn, painters have brushes and easels, stitchers have needles, thread, and fabric — and every artist will tell you the tools of their trade can be expensive, especially when you're just starting out. When you’re looking for a set of supplies to explore a new medium, figuring out what you actually need can be overwhelming and cost-prohibitive. Make & Mend was born out of a desire to change that narrative. Established in 2017 by Somerville artist Emily Tirella, Make & Mend is working to remove the financial barriers to creation by offering gently used art supplies at an accessible rate for seasoned artists and first-timers alike. Like any great work of art, our shop has moved through many forms. Make & Mend was once a brick and mortar space but in March 2020 we said good-bye to our tiny shop and we have now moved to a fully digital platform serving the makers of the Boston artist community and beyond!

Patch Ya Later is a one-woman owned, and operated business out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Founded in 2017 designer Meaghan Mena is constantly inspired by vintage aesthetic and her love for nostalgic music. The goal of every item is to allow her customers to be able to express themselves with a little piece of embroidered art.

Part of our Gothic Literature collection, this black and silver enamel pin badge takes inspiration from The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde written by Robert Louis Stevenson. The pin is in the shape of a potion bottle to represent the serum created by Dr Jekyll during his scientific research. The enamel pin bears the quote: 'You must suffer me to go my own dark way.'
