Cotton Gauze Bandana / Kerchief / Scarf

A light brown tan cotton gauze bandana with raw edges. This bandana is made with 100% cotton gauze and plant dyed using walnuts. Wear it around your neck as a bandana or your head to keep your hair back. Also very cute as a dog bandana. Each piece has natural variations and light mottling effects that add texture and an organic feel. Hand wash.

Plant dyes create deep and complex shades that seem to subtly change with the light. Although the same recipe is used for each batch, no two pieces will be identical in color. Each step in the process of crafting this piece is done intentionally by hand in our Detroit studio. The result is an organic color and lightly textured piece that adds romantic and delicate beauty to any outfit.

Our silk scarves are designed using vintage botanical illustrations. The custom pattern is printed on 100% silk habotai fabric and finished into a lovely small square scarf by hand. These scarves are light and airy and the special print process allows the print to be seen through both sides of the scarf. The print is permanent and will never fade with use or washing.

The scarf pictured on model is 17"x17".

The smaller scarves are 17"x17" in size, perfect for tying around the neck, ponytail, or accessorizing a bag.

Larger 35"x35" size can also be accessorized around the neck, used as a head wrap, festival top, hung as a wall tapestry or an altar cloth.

Curious Prints was born in 2010 and is the creation of Louisiana-born designer Kate Faulk. What began as an outlet to share the vintage images she loved has grown into a lifestyle brand offering art, home décor, accessories, and now botanical-inspired scents that bring the world of natural history to life through fragrance. "I’ve always been fascinated by the birds, insects, and strange little things I found growing up on a farm in South Louisiana. Connecting with others through a shared love of vintage art continues to inspire me every day." As vintage book lovers, we scout antique stores, estate sales, and markets to find the most unique scientific illustrations from the 1600s to 1920s. All art is scanned, retouched, and printed by us in Austin, TX. We use museum-quality, acid-free giclée paper made in the USA from 100% cotton linters—a recovered fiber that puts to use what would otherwise become waste. This ensures each print is archival, sustainable, and made to last. 

Our silk scarves are designed using vintage botanical illustrations. The custom pattern is printed on 100% silk habotai fabric and finished into a lovely small square scarf by hand. BRITISH MADE IN A RAINBOW OF COLOUR - Ark Colour Design was founded in 2015 by Jane Richards and Amy Lindsay. As buyers for our own shop in Cambridge, we have over a decades worth of experience in the gift trade. Drawing from our backgrounds in fashion and fine art, we set about creating products which are fun and affordable, but also well made. All our products are made by a small family run manufacturer in Scotland. The leather is processed in their on-site tannery and then cut and foil embossed to our designs. Because every piece is hand finished with embossing, each one is unique to the next.

The wool gathered from the first shearing; baby alpaca is the finest, softest, and most coveted grade of alpaca fiber. Lightweight yet incredibly strong, it is gentle to the touch, giving warmth and luxury that is pure, practical indulgence.

How To Care For Your Alpaca:

Giving proper care to your alpaca means getting to enjoy their luxurious softness and warmth for decades. 

• Alpaca isn’t a high maintenance fiber. It does not pill and is water-resistant. More importantly, it has the ability to self-clean naturally. Its hollow fibers resist the absorption of dirt or odors. This means they do not need to be washed often! Simply air them outdoors after use. 
• It is better to hand wash alpaca to help preserve their shape and construction. Always use a gentle, non-abrasive soap such as mild detergent or baby shampoo. 
• Do not use hot water or even varying degrees of water temperature since this will shock the fibers, causing them to mat together or weaken. No need for fabric softeners as well.
• After washing, place the item on a flat surface or on a dry towel (to help absorb extra moisture). Do not hang to dry, and let it air dry away from sunlight or other heat sources like radiators. Do not use dryers which can cause the throw to shrink

You may use a washing machine, but it is recommended to only use those with adjustable settings. The setting you need is one that is designed for washing delicate wool items. This type of washing actually mimics gentle hand washing.  Use these tips when using this setting:

• Select cold temperature
• Only use a spin speed that is low or slow (alpaca can’t be spun, wrung, or heated)
• Use a mild soap to help preserve the fiber’s color, texture, and durability.
• Do not use the dryer. Simply lay it flat to dry.
