Two Day Ceramics Workshop: Hand Building a Très Chic Trio with Rachel Gervais

In this workshop, you will create a Très Chic Trio that includes two vessels and one tray. Use this unique set for anything your heart desires! The trio would be perfect as a cosmetics console, office supply organizer, or even a match striker set to go with your favorite candles and incense. Pro tip: strike anywhere matches can be lit by striking the underside. Rachel will guide everyone through a variety of hand-building and decorating techniques to create your very own customized set. 

On day 1, you will be constructing 2 small vessels and a matching tray. Rachel will demonstrate slab building techniques to create the vessels and tray. Once constructed, she will demonstrate different additive and subtractive techniques to add decorations to your match striker set. 

On day 2, your Très Chic Trio will be ready to decorate with a variety of colored underglaze paints. Once decorated, you will apply a clear glaze to each piece.

All work will be ready within 2 weeks after class. We will call/email to let you know when your projects are ready for pick up. POST is also happy to ship.

About the Instructor:

Rachel Gervais is an artist + educator based in Hamtramck, MI. With a BFA in Ceramics from CCS, Rachel has used her education to fuel her love for craft and share those skills with all ages. She loves exploring the quality of texture and the intimate relationship of holding a cup, bowl, or small vase.
