Memory Jars (also known as Memory Jugs, Ugly Jugs, Spirit Jars, Forget-Me-Not Vessels) are a very old craft originating in Africa, then Victorian era Europe, and later became a popular American folk art tradition.
These unique vessels were often embedded with personal objects that were cherished by a recently departed loved one. The jars may be decorated with a variety of trinkets - such as stones, shells, buttons, beads, glass and pottery shards, jewelry, coins, mirrors, medals, or other visual memories.
During this make & take workshop, participants will create their own Memory Jar with the use of air dried craft clay. We will have plenty of goodies to add to the jars but encourage you to bring your own special trinkets.
