*Prerequisites: Students must have a good grasp on beginner knitting techniques including:
In this workshop, you’ll get an introduction to intermediate knitting skills by making your choice of either a cup cozy or an ear warmer.
The patterns used in this class are the “Common Room Coffee Coozie” by Dragon Hoard Designs and the “Everyday Ear Warmer” by Angela Dykman. Skills used in both projects include the long-tail cast on technique joining and knitting in the round and ribbing. If you choose to knit the cup cozy, you’ll also practice knitting with small-circumference needles and reading from a chart.
Materials you’ll need for your choice of project:
CUP COOZIE
EAR WARMER
This is a make and take workshop, with the aim to have you feeling confident enough in your new skills to finish whichever project you choose on your own. You may even finish it in class if you pick up the skills quickly!
About the instructor:
Julia Cardi is a knitter and crocheter based in Detroit. Her love for knitting began as a solitary hobby during the COVID-19 pandemic (the scarf of dubious quality she made from a kit as a nine-year-old notwithstanding), but what hooked her is the community fiber arts naturally creates, and the respite it provides from her day job.
