*Advanced class — Designed for students with a good grasp on basic knitting techniques, but suitable for those who have never done cable knitting before. Students should already be comfortable with casting on and off, knit and purl stitches and working both knits and purls in the same row.
In this workshop, you’ll get an introduction to cabling techniques by knitting your choice of either an ear warmer or a scarf. The patterns used for this class are the the “Cozy Cables Ear Warmer” by Rosie Posie Knit Co. and the “Braidheart” scarf by Kneehigh Patterns.
Julia will guide everyone through the basics of the skill, including right and left crossing cables, the use of a cable needle, and reading from a chart. The goal is to make the skill feel approachable: If you can work knits and purls, you can learn to cable!
Materials you’ll need to bring for your choice of project (see patterns for full details):

About the instructor:
Julia Cardi is a knitter and crocheter based in Detroit. Her love for knitting began as a solitary hobby during the COVID-19 pandemic (the scarf of dubious quality she made from a kit as a nine-year-old notwithstanding), but what hooked her is the community fiber arts naturally creates, and the respite it provides from her day job.
