What's a Goo? A Goo is a cute, curious little being inspired by the world of Melissa’s ceramic Goo family.
Make your own ceramic Goo while learning hand-building basics!
During this fun workshop, Melissa will guide you through pinching and coiling, score and slip. You'll also learn surface decoration techniques via glazing by dipping and painting.
Please note, your Goos will be ready to pick up in 1-2 weeks after the second session, when the kiln firing is complete. POST staff will call when the projects are ready for pick up. We are also happy to ship.
About the Instructor:
Melissa Dettloff is a teaching artist in Detroit, making drawings, screen prints, and ceramics at POST and in her home studio. She is the creator of the Goo, a special, squishy being with part of it missing trying to make the world a better place for everyone. First introduced to printmaking as an art student at Wayne State University, Melissa co-owned Ocelot Print Shop, a community screen printing shop in Detroit’s Cass Corridor. In 2020 she co-founded POMPOM (Printmakers of Michigan Printing on Materials), a networking group for printmakers.
