Quilting Workshop: Your First Quilt
Two Part workshop meets on:
- Friday November 13th from 3pm to 6pm
- Friday November 20th from 3pm to 6pm
Beginner Level Class*
Age 16+ (minors must accompany an adult)

*This is a Beginner Level workshop - this means that you don't need to know much about sewing but you must know how to thread a machine and wind a bobbin. If you are a total newbie and unsure how to use a sewing machine, you may want to start with our Sewing Machine Essentials workshop.
Welcome to this Introduction to Quilting with Liz LePage! Never used a rotary cutter? Still feel unsure when using your sewing machine? No worries, Liz is here to help! If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to quilt, this class is for you. You’ll learn how to:
- Read a quilt pattern
- Use your sewing machine
- Measure & cut fabric
- Sew simple patchwork techniques
- Finish your first quilt
Everyone will receive Liz’s Peace & Patchwork Quilt Pattern to create their own 24x24" mini quilt.
POST will provide a variety of fabric, thread, bias tape, and tools. If you have your own 100% cotton fabric, notions, and tools please bring them!
For this project, we'll be using:
- Background fabric: 1 yard
- Two star fabrics: ½ yard each
- Backing fabric: ¾ yard
- Binding fabric: ½ yard (this is what goes around the edge of your quilt at the end!)
- Sewing Thread
- Rotary Cutter
- Quilting Rulers
Bring your sewing machine if you wish to learn on your own equipment or you may borrow a studio machine. Please select your preference when you checkout.

Liz LePage is a lifelong quilter and educator with a passion for getting people excited about sewing. As a quilt pattern designer, she loves combining simple sewing techniques with in-depth instructions to make sewing accessible to any level of sewist!
