The Ninth House in astrology is ruled by Sagittarius, as was the sun when both Kate and Charlie were born. Take that with a grain of salt if you wish. They enjoy a spoonful of astrology here and there.

For more than two years starting in 2014, Kate did leather work at a local footwear and bag production/design company in Minneapolis. The access to tools such as heavy duty leather sewing machines was a fortunate perk and gave her inspiration to use her sewing skills in a new way. During her time there she designed new product and honed her hand-stitching abilities.

For eighteen months Charlie worked full time doing slab work at a ceramic coaster production studio. The availability of glaze and kilns was a lucky break for him to start learning this craft. In those years Charlie took additional pottery courses. Kate had taken a wheel-throwing class also, as part of her college career. Having begun to sell her leather goods and macramé in 2015, she and Charlie added pottery to their wares the next year. Customers’ positive feedback fueled their drive to keep creating.

The duo got hitched in 2016 and moved to Colorado the next year, where they worked at full-time “day jobs” for three years. The pandemic directed their course toward self-employment and building their business. After a short stint in New Mexico in early 2021 they’ve returned to Colorado, this time on the south slope of Grand Mesa. When they’re not in the studio creating you can find them wandering the myriad of public lands in the region.
