This delicate basket was hand woven with Ponderosa Pine Needles that had fallen to the ground after a hard winter in Central Oregon. The embellishments just add to the handcrafted beauty! This basket features natural carnelian stones on the edges and a lovely trout fishing motif hand-painted on the wooden bottom.
Measures 1 1/2 " tall and 6" wide.
Use as a decorative accent to add a bit of craft and nature to your home. The basket may be used as a ring dish to hold special treasures too.
Signed on the underside by the artist.
Handcrafted in North Bend, Oregon
Duffy Stender spent many years sculpting both wood and stone and came to believe that sculpting is something you feel, not something you talk about or plan. Duffy was born and raised in the rural Northwest, and inherited a strong feeling for the outdoors, both flora and fauna. He frequently combines weaving with his traditional sculpture work. Though he passed away last year, his wife - jewelry designer, Venita Stender - continues to share his work and legacy.
