The facility where these pieces are produced is an award-winning model of sustainability, which runs on solar electricity, collects rainwater, and recycles water on-site. By collaborating with this artisan group, Arcadia Home is helping to preserve the tradition of felt making in the area, promote eco-friendly business, and provide fair and safe employment for hundreds of artisan felt-makers, sheepherders, and seamstresses.

Arcadia Home felt designs are made of “hand-felted wool,” which means that the wool is processed into felt by hand, rather than machine-processed or boiled. These sisal, woven baskets are handmade by a weaving cooperative in southeastern Kenya. The women hand-dye the sisal fibers and weave them into these beautiful works of art. These African baskets are great as plant holders, catchalls, toy baskets, storage baskets, or to liven up a space!

This delicate basket was hand woven with Ponderosa Pine Needles that had fallen to the ground after a hard winter in Central Oregon. The embellishments just add to the handcrafted beauty. This basket features natural tigers eye agate stones.

Duffy Stender spent many years sculpting both wood and stone and came to believe that sculpting is something you feel, not something you talk about or plan. Duffy was born and raised in the rural Northwest, and inherited a strong feeling for the outdoors, both flora and fauna. He frequently combines weaving with his traditional sculpture work. Though he passed away last year, his wife - jewelry designer, Venita Stender - continues to share his work and legacy.
