This is a good class for beginner to intermediate poets who have an interest in poetry but aren’t really sure where to get started.
We’re celebrating National Poetry Month at POST with a four-part writing workshop in which you will read, write, and assemble poems into a small chapbook. Led by Bay Area author Connor Miller, we’ll focus on going from zero to hero with approachable, fun, and supportive poetry exercises aimed at helping you find your voice.
The workshop will wrap up on the final day with a special letterpress printing bonus! Everyone will have the opportunity to set type and print their own chapbook cover with Clare Fox, in the POST print shop.

About the Instructor:
Connor Miller is an author, organizer, and sandwich artist living in Detroit, Michigan. Originally from the Bay Area, Connor studied writing at Sarah Lawrence College and has worked in libraries and bookstores across California and the Pacific Northwest. He helped found the Late Nite Poems poetry games podcast in Portland, Oregon, which has shaped his approach to making poetry fun, accessible, and sincere. He has written several novels including Thomas (2013) and Serious (2015), and recently published his first poetry collection Farthest Away From Perfect (2024). His short fiction is also published in the sci-fi periodical Z-Sky (2021).
